A fermented alcoholic beverage made from non-grape fruit juice which may or may not
comprise the adding of sugar or honey. Fruit wines are always called "something" wines (e.g.,
plum wine) since the word wine alone is often legally defined as a beverage made only from
grapes. Winemaking or vinification is the production of wine, starting with the selection of the
fruit, its fermentation into alcohol, and the bottling of the finished liquid. The history of wine-
making stretches over millennia. The science of wine and winemaking is known as enology. A
winemaker may also be called a vintner. A bottle holder will make the wine more attractive.
